The Reproductive Health Report
Hope everyone has been great!
The longevity industry is thriving more than ever. It would require a very long recap to go over everything since Curation for Longevity started going out less regularly.
Suffice to say that the best funded biotech startup in the world - Altos Labs - a longevity startup, even if they are correctly branded as a “health-span” company, got 3 billion dollars to make their cellular reprogramming mission happen.
Let’s call it now: Longevity Biotech is no longer the underdog in the drug and therapeutic discovery space.
I recently attended a very prestigious research organization’s event which featured a lot of the latest in longevity science, the one thing missing on two days of workshops was anything on reproductive longevity.
Women’s health research - unbelievably enough - IS THE UNDERDOG.
Half of the population are women, but when it comes to healthcare research and innovation, only 1% is invested in female-specific conditions beyond oncology, according to McKinsey & Company.
I spent a good part of my career in branding, I like spotting the next big thing and being part of it. I like big opportunities.
This is why I am now so invested in helping make women’s health research the next big thing.
AthenaDAO
AthenaDAO's Reproductive Health Report was just published yesterday! Alongside a rebrand and new website, we have been busy.
Meant for a general audience, it features areas of research like Ovarian Aging, Menopause, IVF, and highlights some of the changemakers in such fields, as well as challenges in academic publishing and, data collection for women’s health. It includes features with Dr. Jennifer Garrison of the Global Consortium for Reproductive Longevity & Equality, Dr. Polina Lishko of UC Berkeley, and Dr. Zhongwei Huang of the National University of Singapore, amongst other prominent researchers.
The aim of the report is to create awareness around women’s reproductive health research, how underfunded it is, and how much opportunity there is in it.
We are creating at AthenaDAO a unique and collaborative ecosystem in which we are working with researchers, funders, and women's communities to push the field forward and accelerate innovations and drug discovery in women's health.
We are just getting started. Hope some of you are motivated to join us on our mission!
We would immensely appreciate your support by sharing the report to your community and with any woman you care for in your life. 🧬🪩
