🧬🛍 15 - Longevity - The Who is Who - Part 2
Hello again 👋 This is Curation for Longevity 🧬🛍 by Laura Minquini. I am the founder of MYKIGAI - a discovery and recommendation platform for longevity.
Our Longevity ToolKits are prepared by our Geroscientist, Girish Harinath.
The different camps (continued)
This is part 2 of the Who is Who in Longevity. You can read Part 1 here.
Crypto Maximalists
Balaji Srivanivasan & Vitalik Buterin fall in this category. One writes the essays of the future and is a guru of the technocrat class in Silicon Valley, the other we owe NFTs to as he is the co-founder of Ethereum, the blockchain technology in which NFTs run.
Balaji encourages everyone to get into solving big missions and invests in them, like how-to live forever. Vitalik has made sizable donations to the most important foundations in longevity. (Sens and Methuselah foundations)
I became a big Vitalik fan when he weighed in on the Artificial Womb debate from the perspective of equity for women. The best dressed SV founder is not your typical teenage dream of metaverses and living our entire lives online, the genius from Russia (via Canada) is a humanist as well. And yes, I said best dressed, because those outfits he puts together are like normcore meets Sailor Moon and that to me is a unique style.
The latest addition, Brian Armstrong, the founder of Coinbase, who is sort of a disciple of Balaji (he was a CTO at Coinbase) just announced a new company setting a New Limit in epigenetic reprogramming.
Recent Anecdote: Armstrong heard Peter Attia’s interview with Dr. Matt Kaeberlein, who happens to be Attia’s friend, and learned about the work Matt is doing with Rapamycin and the Dog Aging Project, and just like that him, his buddy Tim Ferris and others raised around 2 million for Kaeberlein’s project.
Crypto meets Longevity is the perfect convergence of the longevity maximalists, technologists, and web3 young capital turbocharged.
The 1 Billion millionaire compadres
They all use the Tony Robbins 1 Billion people formula; what I am doing is going to reach one billion of this, one billion of that.
Tony supports Peter Diamandis, Peter supports Sergey Young, Sergey supports Tony. It’s all one happy club of dudes patting each other's backs.
Who knew that 90’s late-night TV infomercials guy I kept seeing as a child would be playing such a massive role in longevity. Who knew I was going to be into longevity is the better question.
And I for one do believe Tony is part of the Fountain of Youth Club because in this 80s video he says he has been helping people for 10 years already. So, what is he now? 70?? He embodies his new book Life Force, which by the way, Diamandis also co-wrote.
Side note: if Tim Ferris is a Padrino, Tony Robbins is The Godfather, as he is credited with being an influence on Ferris.
Peter touches much more than longevity when it comes to technology, with a platitude of initiatives that include the XPrize, for which he is a founder. I thought it was cool he supported the amazing women of OneSkin with the launch their product as he was the one who introduced them for their live stream event. Of all of them, he has been hyping longevity the longest.
Great on their well-aligned and coordinated inspirational messages of getting us to 100, even 150. However, are you starting to see a pattern with how longevity has a lot of dudes?
Longevity Biotech
The companies raising millions without having delivered nada!
Just joking, read this recent article on the ecosystem which our Geroscientist Girish found snarky, however, he found it well documented and it brings up interesting points. Honestly, better to invest in potential breakthrough research than the Anna Delvey Foundation anyway. And as long as it does not end up like “Deep Tech”, it is all good.
Plus, progress is always undermined. Can you believe at some point there were articles for the horse and carriage and against cars???
“The automobile lacks one of the most attractive concomitants of pleasure driving in the companionship of the horse.”
The New York Times has clearly been off sometimes…
Further to this, my friend and fellow Canadian and co-host of The Future of Longevity, Nathan Cheng, is working hard to make this movement happen and is the program director of On Deck Longevity Biotech, so I support it fully. Consider that one of the most prestigious venture firms around the world a16z is talking about the bio revolution. A lot is coming!

The Gut-brain Microbiome Checklist and Protocols
The health of our gut microbiome plays a huge role in our predisposition for chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. So, there is no question that investing in our gut health is central to healthy longevity. But did you know that your gut microbiome also influences the quality of your life on a day-to-day and; moment to moment basis? This is because our gut is in constant communication with our brain, engaged in a bi-directional conversation that influences our emotional health, cognitive health, and behaviors.
Collectively, this interaction is called the “gut-brain axis”. In fact, our gut microbiome directly produces or modulates over 50% of the factors coursing through our circulatory system at any given moment. This includes critical neurochemicals and hormones such as serotonin, dopamine, cortisol, and estrogen. So it is no surprise that gut issues (i.e. IBS, IBD, celiac disease, etc) tend to go hand in hand with mental and social disorders such as depression, anxiety, and autism.
The communication within the gut-brain axis occurs through several different pathways.
Our Microbiome protocols will help you optimize each dimension of your gut health so you can show up as your “best self” in each and every moment. And this is what longevity is truly about.
